Clinical/Forensic Psychologist
An outstanding new job opportunity has arisen for dedicated Clinical/Forensic Psychologist to work in an amazing hospital service based in the Wellington, Somerset area. As a Psychologist you will be working for one of UK's leading health care providers.
This special hospital provides care to men and women with mental health conditions in a modern and purpose-built hospital with low and medium secure environments.
As a Psychologist your day to day duties include:
• Supporting the provision of psychology services in a specified area, in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and under the direction and supervision of a Senior/Principal/Consultant or Lead Psychologist.
• Participating fully with the multidisciplinary team and ensuring that the service user is fully engaged in their care pathway.
• Supporting clinical team working, including both direct interventions and the delivery of staff training programmes.
• Supporting the clinical team and area of service in developing new initiatives and ways of working.
• Working with internal and external agencies in order to enhance treatment pathways for service users.
An ideal Psychologist must have these skills and experiences as they are beneficial for this position:
• Experience using CBT skills to address a range of clinical and/or forensic issues
• Competency in psychological assessment and formulation skills and an aptitude for learning new assessment methods
• Experience (either pre-training, on training, or subsequently) of working with clients with complex needs that are relevant to the population in the service area.
• Knowledge and understanding of working with Trauma
• Successful completion of a Doctorate in either Clinical or Forensic Psychology or the British Psychological Society’s stage 2 training in Forensic Psychology, enabling registration with the HCPC as Practitioner Psychologist.
• Ability to supervise non-psychology colleagues in areas of psychological application
• Up to date knowledge of legislation and its implications for the profession and the client groups we work with.
• Ability to identify and proactive resolve problems and challenges within the service.
• To effectively communicate, at both written and oral level, complex and sensitive information, taking into account the recipients.
